On Monday, June 13th, 2016 the America-Israel Friendship League hosted a conversation with Adam Neumann, the co-founder of WeWork, a company that transforms buildings into beautiful, collaborative workspaces. The event was moderated by AIFL board member Eric Gertler and it was conducted in partnership with Israeli Mapped in New York founded by Guy Franklin.
WeWork is an American company, which provides shared workspace, community, and services for entrepreneurs, freelancers, startups and small businesses. Founded in 2010, with headquarters in New York City, WeWork as of December 2015 had 54 co-working locations across the U.S., Europe and Israel – twice as many as it had at the end of 2014. It plans to expand to reach every continent (except Antarctica) by 2017. WeWork was named among the “most innovative companies” of 2015 by Fast Company magazine.

WeWork designs and builds physical and virtual communities in which entrepreneurs share space and office services and have the opportunity to work together. The company’s 30,000+ members have access to health insurance, an internal social network, social events and workshops, and an annual summer retreat.
Adam Neumann, a former Israeli naval officer, is the co-founder with Miguel McKelvey of the innovative shared workspace company WeWork. The company has fulfilled Neumann’s vision to create an environment that centered around community and connectedness. Prior to WeWork, the duo established GreenDesk, an eco-friendly coworking space in Brooklyn. After selling the company in 2010, Neumann and McKelvey launched WeWork in New York’s SoHo district.
At the AIFL event, Neumann shared with the audience some of his experiences prior to the establishment of WeWork, and he answered questions about innovation, entrepreneurship, vision, correct intention, shared economy and how one should use failure as a leverage for success.
